Cynthia Winton-Henry and Cassandra Sagan

Opening & Closing Retreats October 19-22, 2020 and March 1-4, 2021 • 10 online weekly wisdom teachings (Wednesdays 3-5 pm PST)

This in-depth training orients spiritual leaders from different traditions and paths to explore body wisdom and creativity for personal and group spiritual life.

A unique feature of this program is the opportunity to be led by Cassandra Sagan, a Maggid, Jewish storyteller/teacher/preacher, and a designated Leitz Kadosh, Holy Clown who employs InterPlay with Jewish spiritual leaders, Cynthia Winton-Henry, cofounder of InterPlay whose interfaithful body wisdom helps her grapple with the beauty and challenges of her Christian lineage.

Registrations are handled through the InterPlay office (info@interplay.org).

The program supports participants to:
• Embody healing, prayer, speaking, discernment, celebration, justice, and ritual.
• Increase fluency in the wisdom languages of the soul: movement, voice, word, stillness.
• Affirm the body's intrinsic spiritual intelligence.
• Honor personal connection to Spirit and Mystery.
• Recoup a path of joy and play in a reflective community.

Why Body Wisdom?

Physicality is basic. Racism, gender, class, ability, politics, religion, climate change, animal care, and culture are all body realities. Great transformation happens as we align to body and Earth back as the center of spiritual intelligence. Our bodies know how to honor and affirm every body as distinct and as part of a distinct community.

If we don't honor bodies how can we honor souls?

Gifts of this Program
InterPlay supports us to
• Access voice, movement, stillness, and stories to connect to self, others and the Divine.
• Build a community that empowers marginalized people.
• Find deeper connection with earth, people, and spirit.
• Practice resiliency.
• Trust Improvisational skills for working with complex situations.
• Risk new forms of speaking and presenting.
• Bring artful ritual to bedside, one-to-one, small and large groups.
• Cultivate intergenerational bonds among children, youth, and adults.

Why Creativity for Spiritual Intelligence?

Every form of creative expression provides a unique path of revelation and healing. Our full spiritual inheritance depends on whether we can engage our birthright practices: movement, voice, story, stillness, as well as visual, musical, written and spatial arts. Soul comes alive through them, whether or not we are proficient. InterPlay brings all of these folk arts back into community life in personal and joyful ways.

The Process

Opening Retreat: The Secrets of InterPlay for Spiritual Intelligence: Body, Mind, Heart, Spirit

Take time out to explore creative practices and body wisdom teachings. We'll quickly enter elegant moments of movement, voice, story, and stillness that open us up to the parables of our own lives. Leaders share the tools that are helping people orient to the wisdom of their body: Easy Focus, Body Data/Knowledge/Wisdom, Internal Authority, Physicality of Grace, Exformation, Spiritual Disciplines, Incrementality, and Affirmation. Deepen your exploration into the grace, ease, and spontaneous health that arises when body and soul yield their unbelievable beauty..

Online Sessions: The October retreat is followed by a series of online wisdom trainings and focus sessions, 3-5 om Wednesdays PST (two hours each). In these interactive, live, video sessions, participants deepen their bodyspirit wisdom and connection to tradition around aspects of creativity, the art of truth-telling, the nature of being a body intellectual, how to play with challenges, healing and wholeness, and how we encourage embodied forms of prayer and service in others.

Closing Retreat: “Collective Peace-making and Ritual”

Having formed bonds of play and deep story, we play with new vistas for creativity in communal life. What does it mean for peace and for the communal soul to be embodied? This retreat culminates with a graduation celebration.
