The InterPlay Teaching Practicum is a core component of the InterPlay Leader Training Program. It is for InterPlay leaders-in-training who have enrolled in the Leader Training Program and attended a Secrets of Leading InterPlay. Previously certified InterPlay leaders may also attend. The Practicum is a multi-day workshop that includes practice teaching by participants with self-evaluation and feedback from leaders and other participants, information on best practices in designing and leading InterPlay events, and teaching resources such as sample class outlines.

Note: Before attending the Practicum, participants must complete 8-12 of the Self-Study Core Elements and record their completion on the InterPlay website Leaders Circle form. Check with your leaders to see suggested list. Access to the Leaders Circle form will have been provided at the Secrets of Leading InterPlay. This is a non-residential event. A limited number of home stays may be available for out-of-town participants as well as hotel/motel options. For housing options, contact Jane Siarny at interplaychicago@sbcglobal.net

The Teaching Practicum tuition is included in the tuition for the Leader Training Program. A payment of $400 toward the total tuition is due by the time of this event. The Practicum is also open to previously certified InterPlay leaders at a reduced tuition of $350. Previously certified leaders: (regardless of the version of the program you went through) receive this special reduced tuition rate. The current program has new information and resources that will enhance your teaching. If you have not taught much InterPlay or have not taught recently, you may appreciate this way of bringing your skills up to date. You will also receive information and resources related to the Racial Equity and Transformation Initiative that is being brought into all aspects of InterPlay life and practice.

Continuing Education Credit
15 CE Credits for various healthcare and allied healthcare professions are available for those practicing throughout the U.S and educators who practice in Illinois. CE pre-registration is recommended 2 weeks or more before the start of your event. Notify both the Body Wisdom office (510) 465-2797 at time of registration and your local leader(s) that you are requesting CEUs. A fee of $25 per program will be due at the time you register. CEUs are offered through Continuing Education Institute of Illinois.

Agnotti Cowie
Agnotti Cowie attended the first ever “Art & Social Change: InterPlay for Millennial Leaders” in 2010. Since, she joined InterPlay’s national board as well as becoming a certified InterPlay leader. For the past two years, she returned to Oakland as a facilitator of the Art and Social Change training. Agnotti facilitates workshops worldwide employing a variety of pedagogical techniques such as InterPlay, Theatre of the Oppressed, and Devising. Currently she is based in Chicago where she does workshops in schools, organizations and with social movements. Recently, she has taken her work around the globe teaching workshops in Vietnam, India, and Germany.
Jane Siarny
Jane Siarny, MFA, Master InterPlay® Leader, Certified Yoga Teacher CYT-200 is dedicated to uplifting the human spirit through creativity, community building and body-wise practices. Her training and inspiration draws from classical ballet & modern dance, improvisation, singing, poetry, yoga and InterPlay. Currently, Jane is the InterPlay Life Practice Program Coordinator and led her first Life Practice group in 1999. She also is a trainer in the InterPlay Leader Training Program. She is happy to have discovered InterPlay’s therapeutic, community building approach to celebrating the wisdom of the body. From 1994-2004 she was co-director of the InterPlay based OUTABOUNDS Performance Company, performing and teaching throughout the U.S. Jane’s story can be found in MOVE: What the Body Wants by InterPlay co-creators Cynthia Winton-Henry with Phil Porter.
Kelsey Blackwell
Kelsey Blackwell is a writer, facilitator and coach working at the intersections of social justice, spiritual practice and creative expression. She is devoted to creating a more just, fair and inclusive society by bringing somatic practices into diversity, equity and inclusion work in schools, cooperate offices and at nonprofits. Her writing has been published in Ebony, Southern Living, Cooking Light and The Arrow: A Journal of Wakeful Society. She holds a Master’s degree in Magazine publishing from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She’s also a Certified InterPlay Leader, on InterPlay's Racial Equity and Transformation Committee and a graduate of Karuna Training, a two-year training in contemplative psychology.
