Teaching Practicum

The Teaching Practicum will be led by InterPlay Co-founder Phil Porter at InterPlayce in downtown Oakland.

The Teaching Practicum is a multi–day workshop that includes practice teaching with self–evaluation and feedback from leaders and other participants, information on best practices in designing and leading InterPlay events, and teaching resources such as sample class outlines. It is a core component of the InterPlay Leader Training Program and is open to those who have attended a Secrets of Leading InterPlay and have enrolled in the Leader Training Program. Prior to attending a Teaching Practicum, participants are asked to complete parts of the InterPlay Core Elements Self-Study.

Cost: Registration for the Teaching Practicum is part of the overall tuition for the Leader Training Program. Prior to attending a Practicum participants must have (1) enrolled in the Leader Training Program, (2) paid an initial tuition deposit and (3) set up a tuition payment plan with Body Wisdom. This Practicum is also open to graduates of the original Leadership Program and repeaters who pay a reduced tuition of $300.

InterPlayce is the center of the InterPlay universe. The offices for Body Wisdom, Inc. are also located here. The building is at the corner of 23rd and Telegraph, one block north of West Grand. It is just a few blocks from the 19th Street Downtown Oakland BART station, and on several convenient bus lines. On-street parking is always available at night and metered during the day. Leaders
Phil Porter
Phil is one of the founders of InterPlay. He is a teacher, performer, writer, and organizer. With Cynthia Winton-Henry he is the co-founder of WING IT! Performance Ensemble, and has written several books, some in collaboration with Cynthia, including Having It All: Body, Mind, Heart & Spirit Together Again at Last and The Slightly Mad Rantings of a Body Intellectual Part One. Phil is particularly interested in the use of InterPlay in organizational life, and believes that InterPlay can be a powerful tool to create communities of diversity and peace.
