Mess around with making art...in a supportive and fun community.

Be You! Be Art! Be Seen!

InterPlay Performance Technique Workshop
Gretchen Wegner

Oakland, CA

10am-4pm. Saturday, November 20, 2010. (Bring your own lunch)

InterPlay Performance Technique blends improvisational storytelling, movement and vocal play with an emphasis on both solo and ensemble creation. During the morning we'll practice the basic building blocks of InterPlay performance; in the afternoon we'll combine the forms together in an improvisational extravaganza known as "the Suite."

We will play with performance skills including:

- cultivating the fullness of your voice and body to tell a story,

- embracing your inner solo dancer, whether or not you are trained in dance,

- widening your awareness of the "group body" on stage, and

- learning to lead and follow improvisationally with an ensemble.

InterPlay's performance technique is ideal for Bay Area performers seeking a performing community or those who are ready to take their InterPlay and/or art practice to a new level.

Note: There will be an optional performance on Tuesday, November 23rd. We will warm up from 6-7:15pm and perform for friends and family from 7:30-9pm.

Come ready to be you, be art, and be seen!

Cost: $49-$79 sliding scale

Leaders
Gretchen Wegner
Gretchen Wegner is a teacher, performer, and academic life coach who delights in helping others find expressive freedom. When she first came to InterPlay she was a burned out brainiac with degrees in Intercultural/Post-Colonial Performance Studies and Education (phew!); now she is an impassioned storyteller, dancer and teacher (yay!). Her warm presence and structured classes make the technique of InterPlay fun, accessible and transformative. Gretchen teaches the Tuesday night drop-in class at InterPlayce and performs with Wing-It Ensemble.
