InterPlayce New Year's Celebration!

New Year's Two-Day Event: 12/31/10 and 1/1/11
Gretchen Wegner and Cynthia Winton-Henry

Oakland, CA

Friday, December 31, 2010 & Saturday, January 1, 2011

Penny Mann returns to the Bay Area to help us get to 1/1/11! She joins Gretchen Wegner and Cynthia Winton-Henry for a great day leading up to a New Years Eve bash and a wonderful followup on New Years Day.

Friday: Day for Savoring

2-5 • Savor and tell stories about the year using vocal variety and the magic of >InterPlay

New Year's Eve

7:30-9:00 • Cynthia leads the annual pine branch and candle light spiral dance to honor and release the year with movement, song, and music. Guests and witnesses are welcome. Free time after that to dance, chat and connect as long as you last!

Saturday: Day for Intentions

10-12:30 • InterPlay lets us listen to the wisdom of our bodies and incline our minds toward what is truly moving in our hearts. We will play with the power of intention, as well as its trickster side (which balances heavy self-expectations and the pressure to "improve" ourselves). We'll also explore how small shifts serve as tugboats to move big things in our lives.

12:30-2 • lunch and naps. Bring your lunch (restaurants may be closed)

2-4:30 • Enjoy the interconnection of our hopes and desires as we share our own intentions and witness others'. Through the power of community, we will notice how intending the best for ourselves can also bring benefit to others.

Cost: Sliding scale $79-$129

Leaders
Gretchen Wegner
Gretchen Wegner is a teacher, performer, and academic life coach who delights in helping others find expressive freedom. When she first came to InterPlay she was a burned out brainiac with degrees in Intercultural/Post-Colonial Performance Studies and Education (phew!); now she is an impassioned storyteller, dancer and entrepreneur. She specializes in teaching InterPlay to educators who have a history of being "recovering serious people" -- she calls those classes "Playful Practice." Her warm presence and structured classes make the technique of InterPlay fun, accessible and transformative.
Cynthia Winton-Henry
Cynthia Winton-Henry, M.Div., co-founded InterPlay and Body Wisdom, Inc., with Phil Porter. Her interest in supporting body and soul led her to curate the Hidden Monastery Online Dance Chapels and courses for those seeking the spiritual intelligence needed for our time at cynthiawinton-henry.com.. As an artist, auhtor and mentor, she can be found on Substack at The Dancing Center where her research into "what the body wants" in community arts, shelters, churches, businesses, classrooms, and everyday life led her to create the somatic curricula she needs to address racism, leadership for the Earth, and the Arts of Ensoulment. Featured on the Body Intelligence Summit, Spiritual Directors International, and as a credential facilitator for the Sacred Dance, her publications include What the Body Wants; Dance - A Sacred Art: Discovering the Joy of Movement as Spiritual Practice, Chasing the Dance of Life: A Faith Journey, and The Art of Ensoulment: How to Create From Body and Soul..
