The Sacred Story Project: Messages to the World

InterPlay storytelling, brief writing practice, and film.
Prashant Olalekar and Cynthia Winton-Henry

Oakland, CA

October 8th 9:30-3pm

Are there new solutions for this time in history? Some say so. The widely quoted Hopi elders suggest that "we are the ones we've been waiting for." How are our own stories, healing arts and gifts the "Leaves of the Tree for the healing of the nations," foretold in the Book of Revelation?

We all have stories/dreams/incidents that long to be told more than once. Some of them may carry messages for the world. These stories are wild, normal, funny, and real. They may or may not have happened directly to us. What events profoundly shape and empower you? What happened to give you the courage to love?

This project amplifies personal stories of death, life, truth, ancestry, birth, love, and Mystery. Encounters with evil and evil twins are welcome.

What will happen?

An InterPlay warm up and time to get aquainted.

Time to recall experiences of great good, truth, beauty, or horror that touched or transformed you enough to call it sacred. Feel free to come with a story in mind.

Practices to support each person to tell a story, write it out in a brief sketch, and have it heard.

We will witness a few stories using languages of the heart: music, dance, poetic word. Filming may be involved.

Cost: $20-80 sliding scale advance registration. No money? Talk to cynthia
