A course with InterPlay co-founder Cynthia Winton Henry
Cynthia Winton-Henry

Edinburgh , United Kingdom

Dates: March 22 Friday 7-9pm, Saturday 9am-9pm, Sunday Mar 24 9:30-42013.

“An entirely new way of looking at group process through art….brilliant!”

You'll learn the building blocks of InterPlay, the philosophy behind it and how you can use it in your own workplaces to build empathy, health, resilience, resourcefulness and to generally have more fun.

InterPlay was created by Cynthia Winton-Henry and Phil Porter who in 1989 began to design practices and ideas that most efficiently and enjoyably build artistic skill, leadership ability and community. In the process they stumbled on body wisdom.

Who is it for?
You may want to come to build up your professional development ‘tool box’ or to develop really effective group working tools to unlock story, sound and movement.

You may want a creative practice that covers a lot of territory.

"I have found it invaluable both as a teaching tool box but also in making choices for myself as an artist. It allows and integrates the many sides of me as an artist to exist together and in harmony. It affirms life in all it’s funny, mundane or not so mundane ways, finds ways to connect with others and be seen and celebrated for who we are." Mairi Campbell

“InterPlay is about making connections. I gain a better understanding of myself and my untapped potential, I build stronger relationships with my peers/team and I manage to tap into my creative energy, to take risks and to seek bolder opportunities.” Michael Stanley - management consultant

What happens?
In a workshop participants learn brief creative processes using movement, storytelling, voice, and connection. They get clued in on how these practices may be beneficial.

Typically sessions begin with a warm-up and then move into a series of incremental activities, simple and easy structures, involving interactions with one or more participant – in an accepting, non-judgmental atmosphere.

InterPlay sessions balance experience with reflection on personal wisdom and eight helpful principles that ground a creative, playful way of being in our bodies,

When there are new people in the class we go over the basics as needed. Over the course participants will learn several if not many ways to play with “what a body can do.” Most art forms involve interaction with one or a few other people. Teachers don't put people “on the spot. and offer ways to choose what you will do or not do. In the process you learn more about how your body works, what is possible, how to find the greatest amount of ease in the process. You get to play a lot with your own “information.” You will also learn to move through self-consciousness in easier ways. You don’t need to think of yourself as being creative in order to do InterPlay, but chances are you will find you are much more creative than you thought.

Cost: $250-$350 sliding scale
