Nourish Your Bodyspirit: Untensive Weekend Retreat with InterPlay and Nia

In this this untensive retreat we will explore the tools and forms of InterPlay in the beautiful energy and space of Prairiewoods, an ecospirituality retreat center. Participants may enjoy a late-afternoon restorative yoga class on Saturday with the option for hands-on massage during the class as well as the opportunity to learn about and practice NIA. NIA is a sensory-based movement practice that is based on nine different movement forms: three martial arts, three dance arts, and three healing arts. Black Belt NIA instructor Beth Pelton will facilitate our NIA sessions.
Cost: $230 includes presentations, lodging, and all meals; Commuter Fee $180 includes presentations, Saturday lunch and dinner, and Sunday lunch

Mary Cohen
Mary L. Cohen, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Iowa where she teaches a peacebuilding class, general music methods and materials, research classes, and graduate seminars. Her research area explores well-being through music-making and her scholarly activities explore this area with respect to abolishing the harmful aspects of the prison industrial complex, writing and songwriting, and building caring and collaborative communities. She is the founding director of the Oakdale Community Choir, comprised of incarcerated men and female and male community members who regularly perform original songs inside the Iowa Medical and Classification Center.
