Sat, May 3, 9:30 am-3:30 pm: MAIN EVENT
Sunday May 4, 1-4 pm: GOING DEEPER
Join the movement to honor ourselves as whole people engaging and talking about race. Soyinka Rahim, National InterPlay leader and Cynthia Winton-Henry, Co-founder of InterPlay, pioneers of “The Race Dance" are coming to Washington DC to play directly with racism using exercises that unlock the truth and power waiting to be shared in our stories, silence and sound, connection, stillness and movement.
Are you ready to own your part of The Race Dance? Take this short quiz!
Do you get tired of TALKING about race? Or wish you COULD talk about race?
Are you skeptical about the likelihood of real change in deep-seated racism?
Are you weary of the trigger loop of anger, guilt and defensiveness?
Do you find that racial subtexts keep things stuck at work?
Do you wish you could integrate mind, body and soul around these issues?
Do you crave more play, flexibility, and humor in this work to loosen the knots?
Do you crave new angles? What about Race Dances, Race Moves?
Do you have ancestors who might be whispering to you?
Want to trust the sacred, magical power of story, of sound, of body wisdom?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, this invitation is for you! (even if you are thinking “I don’t dance, I don’t tell stories, I don’t know what my body wisdom has to say!”)
The weekend is designed as a whole; momentum builds and understanding evolves. If you can attend it all you will be richer for it, but please feel free to come to any one or two parts.
