Flavors of the Holidays: Stories of happiness

with InterPlayers and True Story Theater
CC King

West Concord, MA

December 6th at 7:30pm

The holidays are complex -- Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Solstice - whatever your flavor. Come to a performance-based gathering to lift up your stories of this season, be they celebratory or scroogie. Audience members get to laugh, cry, have insights about their life, and feel an expanded sense of community. You can share a moment from your life, get involved in the performance or just come to watch. Expect an unusual evening of fresh perspectives, great ice cream and other holiday treats, and a renewed appreciation for our common humanity. Two approaches to community based healing join together for this event: True Story Theater and InterPlay. These practices share a mission to enhance community wellness and personal resilience with the arts. InterPlay is an active, creative approach to unlocking the wisdom of the body. InterPlay participants use movement, voice, and story-telling, to explore their stories and to develop supportive, transportive community. People use InterPlay to express and celebrate, and when facing challenging circumstances. InterPlayers are building resilient communities in 60 cities around the U.S. and on five continents. www.interplay.org True Story Theater is a nonprofit theater company that offers over 50 improvisational performances and workshops a year for community groups, businesses, and individuals in New England and California. Our mission is to promote social healing through theatre. We perform and teach an embodied theatre of empathy, respect and creativity. Volunteers from the audience are helped to share what’s important in their lives. On the spot, actors then portray the heart of what they heard using music, movement, and dialogue. From this simple interaction, people laugh, cry, share fresh insights, and bond. Our events create a respectful atmosphere where every voice can be heard and any story told — however ordinary or extraordinary, difficult or joyful. www.truestorytheater.org
