a Unique Evening of Healing through Improv

Unexpected Twists: Stories of What Life Hands Us

CC King

Concord, MA

Saturday, May 2 from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.

The public is invited to laugh, cry and gain insights at a unique evening of improvisation on Saturday, May 2 from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Emerson’s Health and Wellness Center in Concord. True Story Theater and Interplay, two improv groups that promote social healing through performance, will entertain the audience, offer deeper connections and a renewed appreciation for our common humanity during this evening of Unexpected Twists: Stories of What Life Hands Us. Plan to come to share a story or gain insights just by watching. True Story Theatre and InterPlay perform an embodied theatre of empathy, respect and creativity. The program will begin with InterPlayers interpreting themes of "what life hands us" with movement and vocal group improvisations. Then, with True Story Theater, volunteers from the audience will be invited to share what’s important in their lives. On the spot, actors then portray the heart of what they heard using music, movement, and dialogue. True Story Theatre performs for community, health, wellness, educational, private and other groups all throughout New England. A respectful atmosphere is created where every voice can be heard and any story told — however ordinary or extraordinary, difficult or joyful. InterPlay is a program and practice of individual and community wellness offered in group settings around the country and locally in Concord and Cambridge. Says facilitator C.C. King, "we transform our stories, nudge social change and come together in soulful, deep and yet light-hearted ways."
