Beth Sarver, InterPlay Leader and Resilience Coordinator at the Academy for Integrated Arts in Kansas City, Missouri, is using the body wisdom practices and forms of InterPlay to deal with the behavioral challenges of children affected by trauma. She is building a recipe for a trauma sensitive Resilient School Culture that reduces the use of seclusion and restraints in behavioral interventions and that minimizes traumatic reenactments between members of school communities.

Find out how Beth integrates InterPlay forms like babbling, leading and following, shape and stillness and toning in behavioral interventions and body data/ knowledge/ wisdom in processing with kids after a difficult incident.

The work of Trauma Sensitive Schools also known as Resilient Schools has become more and more widespread and is even making its way into the legislative agendas of states all over the US. This work seeks to raise awareness about the high prevalence of trauma and the impact that trauma has on behavior, learning and organizational culture.

This information will be personally and professionally relevant to anyone who works with kids; especially those with frequent difficulties. Participants will receive a Power Point Presentation, handouts and resources.om in processing with kids after a difficult incident.

Beth Sarver
Beth Sarver received her Bachelors in Fine Art with an emphasis in Sculpture and Arts Education and is a certified leader of InterPlay; which is a pedagogy for cultivating mindfulness through creativity, performance and play. A regional trainer in Trauma Informed Care, Trauma Sensitive Schools and Building Resilience Culture, Beth has over 13 years of experience as an artist educator in a wide variety of non-traditional settings including: juvenile detention centers, foster care group homes and fine art studios of all kinds. Beth is also an award winning Youth Mentor for the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration of Seattle, WA.
