Agnotti Cowie

Washington, DC
Saturday, May 20, 2017, 10:30-4:30pm and Sunday, May 21, 1-4pm
Through InterPlay and the practices of Theatre of the Oppressed we will explore our power and capacity to make a difference in what matters to us and envision a better and more just world. We will examine social movements and how they impact the world, share our stories and express ourselves through movement, dance and vocalization.
InterPlay, as a worldwide community, believes in the ability to change the world through creative expression. Developed over the last twenty-seven years by Phil Porter and Cynthia Winton-Henry, InterPlay is a practice that teaches groups and individuals to tap into their artistic authority and positively affect other people.
Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) was created in the 1970s by Augusto Boal in Brazil and has become an international movement. TO uses interactive games to gain insight into dynamics of power in our relationships and in our society. He used the term “Rehearsal for Revolution,” engaging audience and participants in action and reflection.
