Side-by-Side International InterPlay Gathering

Interbeing—Weaving our Hearts Together
Vibhuti Aggarwal, Sukhmani Kohli, Ermina Bailon, Masankho Banda, Pemra Kahraman, Meg MacLeod, Sophie Schultze-Allen, and Trish Watts

ONLINE

Thursday–Sunday, 19-22 May, 2022 • See times below

Inspired by Thich Nhat Hahn’s life and teaching, this year we’ll explore the realms of "Interbeing" which he says is “our deep interconnection with everything else.”

We will gather online in whole group sessions and a wide variety of workshops. We will have lots of opportunities to connect with each other. The schedule is designed to accommodate time zones in the Eastern Hemisphere from Australia to Europe. The event will take place over four days, with 3 1/2 hours of play each day.

As we play with the theme of “Interbeing” we will weave our diverse intentions with InterPlay’s potent tools—voice, movement, storytelling, stillness, and connection. And in this vast space of possibilities, we grow in allowing the sanctity of the living world in its wholeness to merge with us in all our human intricacies.

Especially in today’s uncertainties and challenges, our open curiosity and goodwill are our lanterns in the dark. Each of us has a unique bit to play! Join us and bring along your cooperative and collaborative spirit. Together we can shake up whatever is getting in the way and harness the regenerative qualities of our true nature as we branch out and carry forward.

Side by side, equipped with the inherent wisdom of our bodies, we explore new grounds as we interlace our threads of narratives, meanings, and creative expressions to illuminate our world of Interbeing. Through InterPlay, we can remember and reclaim our rootedness in each other and get in the groove of our soulful solidarity!

Stories & Songs from the Sacred Edge by Karen Austen, Hazel Lobo & Trish Watts

On the boundaries of our comfort zone live tremendous seeds of creativity. Let’s explore our shared growing edges of Inter-Being and harness their wisdom together. An opportunity to share, listen, witness, be heard and seen- using the IP forms!

We are creation, weaving our hearts together with poetry and movement.

Unpacking Boundaries by Sophie Spiral and ErMina Bailon

In our complex world where we continuously deal with our sense of safety, security and wellbeing, how can we unpack concepts of boundaries and consent in a way that supports Interbeing? What is the value of having these boundaries and when are they hindering connection? In this workshop, we turn to our curiosity and creative interactions in cultivating cultures of relationality and honoring our inner authority as keys to Interbeing.

Let Our Hearts Sing by Vibhuti Aggarwal and Carina Dengler

Inspired by the theme of this year’s gathering “Interbeing – Weaving our hearts together” we invite you to play with words, sounds and our body spirits and see how those elements flow together, intertwine and transform into a song. Feel free to bring instruments along.

Juicy complexity: Beyond ideas of right and wrong by Sukhmani Kohli and Meg MacLeod

Physics shows that a system becomes quite chaotic right before it shifts to something even more beautiful. Amidst the seemingly growing complexity of our daily lives and worlds, is it possible to not shut others out, even when we don’t understand or agree? To consider different viewpoints, even if they seem to be opposite our view? To allow our sovereignty and also that of others to flourish? In this workshop we’ll use simple InterPlay forms to play together, bringing our experiences and body wisdom to these questions or any others that are alive for you these days.

Making The Invisible Visible by Ade Anifowose and Wishall Sing

To be seen as who we truly are is the ultimate affirmation. Come play with Ade Anifowose and Wishall and discover what wants to be seen, especially in our everyday interaction as a global family.

Listening is love by Samata Vasisht Rudra

Listening is love. Is about listening to the outside, inside and in between. Listening at deeper levels. Listening with the whole body.

Draw-dancing from the heart by Bart Durand

Make a drawing while you move, use the movement patterns with a crayon in our hand. Make a dance on behalf of whatever is hiding in your heart and put it on a piece of paper. Let’s see and share what our heart tells us by moving our hand when we hold a pencil, pen or charcoal.
