Plunge into the Pool of Play at Summer Camp in the City!
Summer Camp for Continual Creatives
Cynthia Winton-Henry
Oakland, CA
Tuesday thru Thursday One Time Event June 23-25, 2009
You are hereby invited to join eleven other women for a three-day plunge into the Pool of Play at Summer Camp in the City!
June 23-25, 2009
Tuesday and Wednesday • 10 am-noon, potluck lunch, 1:30-4 pm
Thursday • 1:30-4:30 pm, dinner, 7-8:30 "campy finales"
Cynthia Winton-Henry and Sharon Pavelda host their dream of Day Camp for women who want to play with paint, ironing boards, sequins and spiritual lingerie as they make contact with that Inner Minor Deity who’s been waiting for an invitation to come to the party. See what wisdom she has to share and luxuriate in the synergy of women who play their way to where their hearts long to go. Here’s your chance to get messy with your muse and quench your thirst for creation.
Day One: Be on the lookout for the ironing board that is looking for you! (Goodwill bin, side of the road, family antique, bent in the garage) We will be creating found-object sculptures connecting us to our legacies of housework, mother messages and more, and will share our stories, dances and songs that celebrate what we have discovered.
Day Two: Special Guest, Suzanna Jolene Wisener, from The College of Cosmic Cosmetology will be on hand to introduce her line of Spiritual Lingerie, "Foundational Garments for the Support We Need Now." In an entire day devoted to underwear and the axiom "Change your underwear, change your life" enjoy this research and design party to create the intimate vestments that can honor our sacred wounds and gird us to the task at hand.
Day Three: Visitations by "Tree" and "WaWa, Minor Water Deity," are expected. A chance to play dress up and sing and dance and listen to what our beloved earth is inviting us to bring forth in the service of love. This day culminates in an evening Happening to which loved ones and other strangers can be invited.
Things to be on the lookout for from now til then:
The ironing board that is looking for you.
undergarments that you would actually wear and anything that might help make them into vestments
dress-up things that you can’t resist.
Registration limited to twelve.
Cynthia Winton-Henry is cofounder of InterPlay, Body Wisdom Inc, and an almost out of the closet artist. Sharon Pavelda is a spiritual director, performance artist, liturgist of the street, and muse joyously channeling multiple personages.
