Two workshops Friday & Saturday -- 2 to 5pm (come to either or both)

Join Masankho in Oakland for a Storytelling workshop, Friday, October 29th and Saturday October 30th. In this workshop using InterPlay (http://www.interplay.org) and a lifetime of storytelling skills learned from his Elders in Malawi, Central Africa. Masankho will share with YOU the secrets to being the storyteller YOU have always wanted to be in these three areas of Storytelling below with a focus on scary stories

• Telling myths, folktales, fables etc
• Telling personal stories or narratives of historical and/or current personalities
• Improvising and making up stories on the spot

In addition during the workshop you will learn:

How use your voice properly / How to fully express characters / How to pace your stories / How to use the body to express yourself / The art of telling stories in groups (duets & more) / How to use your voice in new and interesting ways / How to effectively use eye contact / How to properly use humor

Masankho is a multi - disciplinary Performing Artist, Certified InterPlay Leader, Educator and PeaceBuilder. He brings many unique perspectives to his work around the world. He learned the fine arts of storytelling and dance from his Malawian culture spending many long days and nights listening to stories and dancing to music that captivated his mind, shaped his being, nourished his soul and strengthened his spirit. Using performing arts Masankho motivates and inspires people of all ages to work together to bring about peace, social justice and cultural understanding. In 1997, he started UCanDanc—African Healing Arts to bring his passion for dance and storytelling to communities around the world. Masankho has been a Certified InterPlay Leader since 1999.
