Discovering Your Shadow – Who and What is in the shadow you travel with?
Richard Kakareka and
Darlene Kucken
Asheville, NC
Saturday, January 24, 10:00 am - noon
A Special InterPlay Event with Forrest Green and Rumi Kakareka’s live improvisation music for your added experience.
We’ve passed the darkest longest night and now move ever so slowly and gently back into the light of longer days. What a perfect time of year to discover who and what is in that long shadow that follows you around!
We tend to think of shadows as our darker side, and perhaps your shadow side has sadness, disappointment, longing or fear. But perhaps your shadow also has a mischievous twin full of unvetted gladness, gratitude, fullness and sense of adventure! Maybe your shadow contains all of the above – or maybe there’s something else in there to discover.
Using well-founded InterPlay forms of self-discovery through words, movement, stillness and sound, toss in a bit of witnessing, and add on a Special Feature of two local improvisation musicians – we will discover who and what’s in that shadow you travel with.
In Discovery, there is Knowledge for Change in a New Year!

Darlene Kucken
Darlene has been exploring InterPlay forms and practices for about 13 years (give or take) and has definitely had her life enhanced by these practices. You would never know she used to be an introverted wall flower! After just a short time doing InterPlay she came to realize how much her energy made a difference in a room of people. So there's no telling what difference her Big Body Spirit could make on the planet if she just let it shine! She now improvises her Life (quite well, thank you) using the learned tools, forms and practices of InterPlay. She attributes her playfulness to InterPlay, and also her quest for deeper meaning in her life and the life of the community she surrounds herself with. She witnesses how much InterPlay can bring out the most in those that bring a willingness of spirit to the InterPlay practices.
